I wanted to use small wooden sticks by staggering them to see if I could get the feel of the weave. Such an arrangement would actually be interesting, but as the sticks were so small, I could only glue them together with wood glue. If I could make a large installation with larger sticks, the joining of the sticks to each other I thought it would be spectacular to incorporate the Chinese mortise and tenon construction method of joining.

But I didn't think that this connection would relate to the harvest, so I tried to lay the strips flat against the base in a row and then add another row on top, which created a layering effect and gradually gave the impression of a wind-blown wheat field.
