Object 1 Process&Outcome

After all this experimentation, I knew how I could best express myself, and I thought I could choose the material of shavings to combine the two forms I had experimented with, so I used this arrangement to make my outcome. There is the slimmer, curlier type, which is more suitable as a base for the whole piece, and the longer, curled cylinder type, which is more suitable for shaping the whole feeling, so that the wind can blow the wheat field away.

This is my final product, showing the wind blowing through the waves of wheat. At the same time, as we touch and press it, it makes some sound, which is particularly like the sound of standing in a wheat field and hearing the wind blowing through it. I learnt a lot from making this output. Firstly, I have become more proficient in using the machines in the school's woodworking workshop and secondly, I have become more knowledgeable about wood. Because the wood needed for planing is relatively soft, but the wood I chose at first was rather hard and I couldn't plan the effect I wanted, so I also referred to a lot of literature and experimented with the effect of planing different woods before finally finishing my output. So I think the most challenging part of the process of this project was to get the shavings I wanted because I needed different types of shavings, so I had to choose the right wood for the shavings, adjust the strength and position when shaving, and keep trying, maybe ten times before I succeeded in getting a shaving that I wanted.
